Project Description

Waterford County Master Plan

GMU was successful in winning the limited design competition for the new Village of Waterford County to the east of Maitland. This new village is for up to 2000 lots and includes a village centre and community facilities.

The design concept developed for the village has evolved from a response to the gently rolling topography, heavily wooded ridge line and descending lower order creeks which cascade down to the wetlands. The centre is located to capture both pedestrian and vehicle traffic and to provide a linked cycleway throughout the site. The village centre is the focus of the site with village square and the mews linking into the major creek corridor. Each neighbourhood has a distinct street pattern and focal open space located to capture views.
