Project Description

25 Anglo Road, Campsie RSL

GMU was appointed by Campsie RSL with Cerno as project managers to undertake an urban design study of the potential built form for the subject site located at Nos. 25-43 Anglo Road, Campsie, which is to be a Seniors Living Development. GMU conducted broad analysis of the future of Campsie and the role that the subject site will play in its future growth in line with the Draft Sydenham to Bankstown Urban Renewal Corridor Strategy prepared by Department of Planning and Environment (DPE). The detailed analysis suggested that the site is one of the most prominent locations with high redevelopment potential as a site visible upon arrival to Campsie from either direction on the Bankstown Railway Line. GMU researched the opportunities and constraints for the site, developed a vision and design principles that generated a preferred master plan for the site. The preferred masterplan’s built form was further tested and sculpted to maximise the solar access to the surrounding well-utilised parks and existing residential dwellings without having adverse visual impacts to the context. The vision of the site was to create a strong identity for Campsie as well as to be catalyst leading the future regeneration of the area. The proposed development will establish a vibrant community hub that complements the existing centre as well as providing new housing, job opportunities and improved connectivity and quality open spaces for people to live, work and visit.
